We are really happy to announce our own Company Profile Feature in Ten Magazine December 2012.

Company Profile December 2012

Brunel Engraving Company Ltd is located in Clevedon, North Somerset. The company specialise in a number of different areas including trophies and corporate awards, commercial and industrial engraving, chemical etching, office signage and sublimation and UV print processes. Brunel Engraving was established in March 1989 by Martyn Wright and has grown substantially over the years, today employing 22 members of staff. 2012 has seen them grow at an impressive rate of 15% but that’s not surprising when you look at their remarkable range of machinery and equipment which includes no less than 12 engraving machines, a Process Conveyor System and Dye Sub and Flat Bed printing machines. Brunel Engraving is responsible for manufacturing 70% of ‘Investors in People’ plaques and they are the largest supplier of Engraved Dartington Glass in the country.

In the beginning the company worked out of a small shop that extended under the seating of the historic Curzon Cinema in Clevedon, Bristol - needless to say they received many complaints of engraving machine noise during the matinees! Within nine months the business had moved to larger premises where it continued to grow until 2002 when the commercial engraving was moved into an industrial unit of 1600 square feet. In 2010 the trophy and awards and commercial engraving businesses were brought together in one unit. This 5000 square foot unit has really given the company the chance to operate the business in a more structured way.

Customers receive a truly bespoke service from Brunel Engraving; orders are taken from their website, by e-mail, fax and letter and via the retail shop. Most orders are processed in the office and then directed to the production workshop. On receiving an order the customer is sent artwork or alternatively they can draft their design and pass it to the company, on his/her authorisation Brunel convert the files to suit which machine will be used in the engraving/manufacturing process. It is at this stage that the engraver retrieves the files from the server; this process alleviates down time on the machine and enables the engraver to operate up to three machines at any one time. There is a 3-5 day turnaround on their products or 1-3 days for urgent orders.

Brunel Engraving is truly a one-stop-shop not just for direct customers but also for trophy shops and signmakers too offering services such as supplying blank products like signs (cut to size) as well as engraved ones. They also offer trade engraving and etching services to the smaller trophy shops, supplying brass, stainless steel, aluminium and plastic nameplates.  From originally specialising in engraving through business development they have moved into printing which is another string to their bow.

The company is currently in the process of developing a new website, this will include a login so that they can track orders and be able to analyse their customer requirements over a period of time. Says Martyn: “We hope that by further developing our website we can offer a more advanced service and open up our product range to an even wider audience.”
